Tenoren Reinaldo Macias er cubansk amerikaner, uddannet fra Loma Linda University i Californien og fra musikkonservatoriet i Geneve. Han debuterede i 1989 på Zürich Operaen som grev Almaviva i Rossinis Barberen i Sevilla og har siden sunget en lang række hovedroller dels i Zürich, dels på operascener i Europa, Japan og Israel, herunder Statsoperaerne i Wien og Hamborg samt Deutsche Oper i Berlin.

Reinaldo Macias har et omfattende operarepertoire, fra Mozart til Poulenc, og et stort koncertrepertoire med vokalværker af bl.a. Verdi, Puccini, Mendelssohn m.fl. Han har sunget med en lang række af Europas førende dirigenter og orkestre.

Reinaldo Macias is Cuban/American. After winning first place at the Met auditions he completes his degree at Loma Linda University, CA. and enters the Conservatory of Music in Geneva, earning the "Virtuosity of Vocal Performance" degree with a first prize.

His stage debut at the Zürich Opera as Count Almaviva (Barber of Seville) was followed by performances at the Vienna State Opera and the Hamburg State Opera. His success leads to engagements as Ferrando (Cosi fan Tutte) and Don Ottavio (Don Giovanni).

During his career he has performed with such renowned conductors as Michel Plasson, Bruno Campanella, S. Cambrelaing, Adam Fischer, Michel Corboz, Ralph Weikert, William Christie, Serge Baudo, Anthony Pappano and Vladimir Fedoseyev in major theaters throughout Europe including the Semper Oper (Dresden), Theatre de la Monnaie (Brussels), Opera de la Bastille (Paris), Staatsoper Berlin, Liceo de Barcelona, Montpellier Opera, Covent Garden (London) and his debut at the Munich Staatsoper alongside Edita Gruberova.

At the Zurich Opera, he has sung Duca di Mantova (Rigoletto), Tamino (The Magic Flute), Fenton (Falstaff), Rinuccio (Gianni Schicchi), Romeo (Romeo and Juliette), Mitridate (Mitridate), Carlo (Linda di Chamounix), and Nicias (Thais) among others. Under the direction of Nello Santi he has performed Nemorino (L'elisir d'amore), Ernesto (Don Pasquale), Alfredo (La Traviata) and Ismaele (Nabucco).

In 1997 he sang Faust (Faust) in a new production at the Zurich Opera and would later make his debut at the Deutsche Oper Berlin in the same role. Other highlights have included Alfredo (La Traviata) at the Monte Carlo Opera, Tokyo and Israeli Opera, Des Grieux (Manon), Lucio Silla (Lucio Silla), and new productions as Lord Percy (Anna Bolena), Edoardo di Sanval (Un Giorno di Regno), Romeo (Romeo and Juliette), Les Indes Galantes with William Christie, Le Chevalier de la Force (Les Dialogues des Carmelites), Nadir (Les Pecheurs de Perles) and Edgardo (Lucia di Lammermoor).

In addition to opera he performs a varied concert repertoire. His performance of the Verdi Requiem at the Salle Pleyel (Paris) under Michel Corboz and a successful tour of South America singing Mendelssohn's Elijah, with performances at the Teatro Colon in Buenos Aires, are among the highlights.
Recorded works include Puccini's Messa di Gloria, Les Aventures du Roi Pausole, Il Turco in Italia, The Barber of Seville and Busoni's Faust.
Events on his future calendar include his debut as Dimitrij (Boris Godunow) and Loge (Das Rheingold).
