• Concerts with Orchestra Norden

    25th of June 2014 · tags:

The next 5 years Denmark is hosting the Orchestra Norden, and the Academy provides room in Aalborg. The orchestra is a joint Nordic prestige project that every summer brings together some of the brightest students from the Nordic music academies for a 3-week orchestra project, with workshops, master classes, orchestra rehearsals and concerts. Four students from the Academy are among the 80 young musicians from across the Nordic and Baltic countries.

The Project Weeks began on Monday 23 June, and the first concerts are played locally in Northern Jutland. Sunday 29 June there is a concert in Dronninglund Chapel at 7.30 pm, Friday 4 July at Hjörring Gymnasium and on Monday 7 July the orchestra begins a tour around Denmark's best concert halls with a concert at the House of Music in Aalborg. From there it goes on to the Symphonic Hall in Aarhus 8 July, Alsion in Sønderborg 9 July and DR Concert Hall in Copenhagen 11 July. All tour concerts begin at 7.30 pm.

The concerts are conducted by Thomas Søndergaard and the program includes music by Grieg, Stenhammar, Sibelius, Tue Rangström and Shostakovich.
