• The Academy hosts Orchestra Norden

    20th of June 2014 · tags:

The next 5 years Denmark is hosting the Orchestra Norden and the Academy is among the partners behind the hosting. 80 young musicians from across the Nordic and Baltic countries meet from 23 June and three weeks ahead in Musikkens Hus in Aalborg in this joint Nordic prestige project that every summer brings together some of the brightest students from the Nordic music academies for 3 weeks with workshops, master classes, orchestra rehearsals and concerts.

All five Nordic countries and the three Baltic countries are represented in the orchestra. This year Denmark places with the largest contingent of participants, 20 in total, including 4 from the Academy. The Academy provides optimal settings for rehearsals, workshops and master classes at the academy's department in Musikkens Hus in Aalborg.

Pupils from culture schools are invited to attend rehearsals and concerts, there will be "pop up" chamber concerts in urban spaces, and the orchestra plays a few local concerts in Dronninglund Slotskirke and at Hjørring High School. After 14 days of intensive orchestral training in Aalborg the orchestra takes on tour, where the young musicians will play in Denmark's four newest symphonic concert halls in Aalborg, Aarhus, Copenhagen and Sønderborg.
