• Student as soloist with Aarhus Symphony

    18th of June 2014 · tags:

Bass baritone Simon Duus is soloist at a free summer concert with Aarhus Symphony Orchestra on Wednesday 25 June at 7.30 pm. in the Symphonic Hall, Concert Hall Aarhus. Here he sings Vaughan Williams' "Songs of travel". Duus is studying in the soloist class by Associate Professor Bodil Øland.

The engagement with the symphony orchestra is due to a solid collaboration between the orchestra and the Academy. Once a year the two institutions present a joint soloist competition where students from the Academy can compete for the right to a concert with the orchestra. In the latest competition in January 2014, Simon Duus was a very convincing winner.

Duus already has sung in professional contexts several times, including with the Aarhus orchestra. In autumn 2013, he was, for example, invited to the DR Symphony Orchestra's celebration of Verdi's 200 anniversary, where he was a soloist alongside veteran stars like Stephen Milling and Morten Frank Larsen.
