• 4 stars in Downbeat

Ass.prof. in saxophone Christian Vuust' latest CD release "Urban Hymns" has just been reviewed in the June issue of Downbeat, the world's leading jazz magazine. Just to be reviewed by Downbeat is something of a milestone to slip through. And Vuust gets 4 out of 5 stars and a very nice review.

The reviewer writes: "Vuust's sophisticated and lush 10th album, Urban Hymns, is (...) his tribute to New York City (...). Though recorder in Manhattan (...) the music's rich tonality and sparse arrangements seem two reflect Scandinavia's sunfilled nights and eternally autumnal seasons."

In addition to the praise of single tracks the reviewer says about the music in general: "Vuust's music is meditative, his warm tenor recalling a wistful Michael Brecker, his composition's open palettes a perfect laboratory for the exploratory skills of his sidemen on this date."
