Five of Africa's toughest musicians are leading a workshop at the Academy from Monday to Wednesday. The workshops will end up with two free concerts in Aarhus on Wednesday afternoon, at Store Torv 15:00 and at Godsbanen 18:00. Both  concerts are a part of the IMAGES festival.

The five musicians is a singer and cora player and 4 drum masters, all from Gambia. They have extensive experience in providing workshops and the participants will have a unique introduction to the deep rhythmic knowledge that the so-called wollof drum tradition contains.

It's Aarhus Jazz Orchestra which has got the five Gambians to Denmark, where they also provide workshops on a couple of music schools and at the Rhythmic Music Conservatory in Copenhagen and played concerts with AJO. The visit is an offshoot of the AJO's long-term development track focusing on incorporating African rhythms in a contemporary big band universe.
