The prestigious English "Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival" has commissioned a new work by Academy student Julie Kjær, who makes her debut next summer from the soloist class as a jazz/pop composer. Her work will be played at the festival in England on 21 November.

The work is a co-commission, in collaboration with the Danish music festival "G((o))ng Tomorrow", organized by branch organization SNYK and held this week in Copenhagen.

Julie Kjær has written the new work "This is where you see me" for an ensemble of six musicians, and she plays herself on bass clarinet, alto saxophone and flute. The work will be premiered at the festival in Copenhagen at Jazzhouse this Friday, November 10th.

The music is based on Kjær's work on integrating composition and free improvisation. In addition to elements from jazz and experimental music, the music is colored by Kjær's great passion for different kinds of folk music.
