• An evening in New York

"If big band leader Duke Ellington and New York composer Steve Reich had raised a boy together, he would probably have made music as Canadian Darcy James Argue!" – according to The Jazz Society  in Aarhus, telling about  D.J. Argue, one of the few composers who have big band as his specialty.

Argue plays a concert in Aarhus 3 November along with the DR Big Band. The concert is organized in collaboration with the Big Band, The Jazz Society in Aarhus and the Academy. Read more about the concert here (in Danish). The same afternoon there is an event at the Academy, where Argue tells about his work and about the concert.

Darcy James Argue now lives in Brooklyn, is a pianist, composer and bandleader known for reinventing the 21st century's big band. He is ranging from Gil Evans, Bob Brookmeyer, Kenny G to Peter Brötzmann ... and we could go on. A man who is able to innovate and surprise.
