• OPUS-festival for 10 years

    10th of October 2016 · tags:

Classical piano students at RAMA invites for the 10th time to OPUS-festival with free concerts every day throughout this week. The anniversary will be marked by each concert reusing a theme from one of the previous years, such as "Beethoven’s Sonatas" (Saturday) or "Music from 7 different countries" (Wednesday). Watch the complete program here.

The festival was started by the Academy's energetic and charismatic piano professor Anne Øland and her students. She had a vision to get pianists to meet in a warm and friendly atmosphere, and after her death in 2015 the Academy's piano students continued the tradition. Since 2009, OPUS has been visited by Professor Irina Ossipova and her students from the Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow. In addition, among the many pianists there are not only Danish and Russian students; also many other nationalities are represented in the form of exchange students from several continents, including five students from China.

The festival week has daily master classes in Danish and Russian style, ahead of the evening concerts. Through masterclasses and concerts the Danish piano students meet the strong Russian piano tradition, and this cultural exchange has over the years proved quite crucial for the high levels in the Academy's piano class.
