• Piano Competition in China

    Principal Claus Olesen is on his way to China with external examiner Erik Kaltoft and Ass.Prof. Frode Stengaard to take part in the jury at the final round of a nationwide classical piano competition being held over the summer in numerous Chinese provinces - with a total of about 300,000 participants!

    On 2 and 3 October the finals in each age group will be held in Shanghai. First prize in the oldest category is a year of study at the Academy n Aarhus, paid for by a large Chinese business enterprise. About 200 competitors reached the finals of which 60 are in the oldest category.

    In connection with the finals the Academy gets opportunity to present its programs for various stakeholders. On the whole, the Academy's commitment to the piano competition helped to expose the Academy in environments of classical Western music all over China. Already in the academic year 16/17 seven paying students from China stated to study in Aarhus as a direct outcome of preparations for the piano competition.
