Glomus camp in Brazil

9th of January 2017
From 11 to 20 January 10 students and 6 teachers and leaders from the Academy participates in the international Glomus Camp 2017 in Natal in northeastern Brazil. Approximately 150 students and teachers from 25 academies around the world will gather for cultural exchange and mutual inspiration across nations and traditions. Glomus is a worldwide network of 25 higher education institutions for music, dance and drama from all parts of the world, founded by three Nordic academies, including the Academy.

Camp participants will meet in large groups for ensemble playing, for workshops and master classes in smaller groups, for discussion forums and for joint presentations of the different music (and dance) cultures in the different regions. The mutual cultural understanding appears by participants working directly with genres and styles they have no personal experience with in advance.

The international Glomus Camps are held every two years and has previously been held in Ghana, Tanzania and Malaysia. Through the Glomus co-operation, Academy students and teachers get plenty of inspiration and many important contacts. There is an ongoing exchange of students and teachers between the Glomus institutions.
