GLOMAS

The Master of Global Music (GLOMAS) is an innovative and specialized graduate degree programme offered in collaboration between higher education institutions in two Nordic nations. Students will primarily be affiliated with one of the two Glomus partner institutions in Denmark or Finland but will also participate in joint courses held at each institution, for which travel and lodging expenses will normally be covered.

In most cases, the Master degree programme will take 2 years to complete. In addition to coursework, all students will also conduct fieldwork on a foreign or minority musical culture. Students will be offered opportunities for fieldwork via partner institutions in the Southern hemisphere, particularly Africa and the Middle East.

The programme emphasizes development of “bimusical” performance skills, typically within at least two traditions from different parts of the world, as well as studies of topics relevant to the career of a professional musician, including such areas as musical leadership and instructional skills, project management, and applied research. The programme leads to a Master's Degree in Music (MMus).

The common language of the programme is English.

Application

GLOMAS is current being restructured and therefore there will be no intake in Spring 2019.
