• New opera by Academy lecturer

    17th of September 2014 · tags:

Composition teacher at the Academy Simon Steen-Andersen will tomorrow get his brand new chamber opera, Buenos Aires, premiered at the Ultima Festival in Oslo, perhaps Scandinavia's biggest festival of contemporary music. Typical of Steen-Andersen it is an opera nearly without singing - he is also known as a performer and installation artist and moving freely between music, electronics, video, choreography, etc.

Steen-Andersen has as few Danish composers gained international recognition and today he works with major international artists. The opera is performed by the two internationally renowned ensembles Asimisimasa and Neue Vocalsolisten. In November the new opera plays in Dronningesalen in Copenhagen, and then proceeds to Holland's November Music Festival, England's Huddersfield Festival and the Eclat Festival in Stuttgart.
