• Singer wins soloist competition

    28th of January 2014 · tags:

Monday the Academy arranged a soloist competition, where a large number of students posed for a contest about which of them should be allowed to appear as soloist with the Aarhus Symphony Orchestra this summer. The competition was won by bass baritone Simon Duus studying in the soloist class by associate professor Bodil Øland.

Simon Duus has already been noticed on several occasions, also outside the Academy. For example, in the fall of 2013 he sang by DR's great Verdi galla in the Concert Hall in Copenhagen, where he appeared alongside Danish world names like Stephen Milling and Morten Frank Larsen in front of the DR Symphony Orchestra.

It is of great importence for an academy student to get the opportunity to be a soloist with a professional symphony orchestra. First and foremost, it is an important learning experience, then it makes good publicity and could be an important step towards a professional career.

Simon Duus can be experienced with the Aarhus Symphony Orchestra on Wednesday 25 June.
