• Carl Nielsen Prize at Steen-Andersen

    The Academys composition teacher Simon Steen-Andersen yesterday Friday received the prestigious Carl Nielsen prize of DKK 600,000, named after Denmark's greatest composer. The award is given in recognition of a particularly great talent and an incentive for further work. The ceremony took place at a concert with DR Underholdningsorkestret in Dronningesalen at the Royal Library in Copenhagen, where the 2cnd part of the program consisted of works by Steen-Andersen.     There is at present a strong focus on Simon Steen-Andersen, not least internationally. At September 2014 he gets for instance premiered a new piano concerto at Donauschinger Music Days, one of the world's leading festivals of contemporary music.
