• Professor working at network-based ensemble playing

    25th of September 2013 · tags:

Trombone Professor Niels-Ole Bo Johansen these days is practicing for a concert on 1 October. His fellow musicians are placed respectively in Tromsø and Leipzig while Johansen is placed in The World Opera Lab in Business Park Struer - the first laboratory for network-based performance, ensemble playing and interaction in Denmark.

The laboratory opened in late August. In addition to the technological experiences the hope is also to develop new formats for the performing arts and music in a globalized and digital world.

The Laboratory in Struer raised out of The World Opera, an international research and development project on network distributed performance at the University of Tromsø. The laboratory cooperates with similar environments in USA, Canada, Germany, Great Britain and Sweden a.o. World Opera Lab is very much about opera but also has room for other music.
