• From martial arts to percussion technique

    22nd of November 2018 · tags:

Tonight, Thursday 22 November, Ass.Prof. Henrik Knarborg Larsen presents the results of his artistic research project, where he has studied how methods of Japanese martial arts Ki-Aikido can be used to develop percussion technique.

Knarborg Larsen has among other things conducted a research project (a so-called intervention study with a range of Ki-Aikido methods), which aims to improve the sound through percussion exercises. Students from several international conservatories were instructed by Ki-Aikido methods, while a control group received normal instruction. A comparative spectral analysis of the results showed that the use of Ki-Aikido created a change in sound against a more warm tone.

Everyone is welcome, there is free admission. Read much more here (in Danish).
