• World class visit

    25th of August 2017 · tags:

American jazz saxophonist and clarinetist Chris Speed is a world-class musician. He visits the Academy in Aarhus on Wednesday, August 30, where he holds a clinic for the rhythmic students at the Academy. Here he will focus on the tenor saxophone and the clarinet, and also on improvisation.

N.Y. Times has described Speed as "one of the main figures in a dynamic left-of-center jazz / improv scene in the city". He was among the founders of Jim Black's Alas No Axis and John Hollenbeck's Claudia Quintet, two of the most influential jazz bands of today. Speed currently works with names like Craig Taborn's Heroic Frenzies, Michael Formanek's Ensemble Kolossus, Dave King's Trucking Co. and many, many others.

Ass. Professor Christian Vuust has arranged the clinic with Chris Speed in connection with Speed playing as a soloist at a concert with Aarhus Jazz Orchestra Music Hall Aarhus September 1.
