From June 22 to July 1st two lectures and eight students from the Academy will be in New York to attend the New Music for Strings Festival. Here, strings and composers from the US and Europe meet for concerts, seminars and masterclasses focusing on contemporary music with strings. Experiences will be exchanged; new ideas and techniques will be tested and brand new music will be performed.

The first NMFS festival was held at the Academy in Aarhus in August 2016 at the initiative of the Danish-American violinist Anne Sophie Andersen, in close collaboration between the Academy and the music department at Stony Brook University in N.Y., which is now home to this year's festival.

Members of the world-famous Emerson String Qaurtet are among the teachers, along with cello professor Henrik Brendstrup and composition teacher Simon Steen-Andersen from the Academy. See more on the New Music for Strings website or on the festival's Facebook page. Also see a list of participants from the Academy.
