The symphonic song cycle BEINTA, which was premiered by the Aarhus Symphony Orchestra at the SPOT Festival 2016, has been nominated for the Carl Prize 2017 in the category "Classical composer of the year - large ensemble." BEINTA is composed by composition student Allan Gravgaard Madsen and DIEM student Anna Katrin Øssursdóttir Egilstrøð.

Also composition student Mette Nielsen has been nominated in the category "Classical composer of the year - small ensemble" for the piece "Odense Havn", premiered by Uusinta Ensemble at KLANG Festival 2016. The three young Academy composers are nominated alongside with very well-established composers as Peter Bruun, Karsten Fundal and Bent Sørensen.

The Carl Award honors Danish composers, songwriters and lyricists in all music genres. Where other music awards normally tributes performing artists the Carl Prize puts focus on the central element in the music business: composing and writing songs. The prize party will be held in Tivoli 24 April.
