• This year's musical power feature

    Composer and Soloist Student at the Academy Allan Gravgaard Madsen and master student at DIEM Anna Katrin Øssursdóttir Egilstrøð are among the recipients of the National Arts Foundation awards for "This year's musical power feature". They receives the award for their joint project BEINTA, a symphonic song-cycle which was premiered in Aarhus in April.

    The Art Foundation's motivation says: " BEINTA is beautiful and dramatic symphonic poems, released from genres and tradition. The orchestration has created a special deep perspective with surprising details and the voice fully integrated. The listener is surrounded by the piece, as a frame for the inner landscapes dramatic complexity. It is tristesse and captivating Nordic Noir."

    The Arts Foundation has awarded a total of 17 pieces: “Each in their field has asserted themselves artistically in 2016, and the music and the lyrics ask questions at us as humans, creating responsiveness, identification or amazement".
