Five students from the Academy has formed a unique ensemble: "Ensemble Sirius", consisting of saxophone, trumpet, piano, double bass and percussion. It is a completely new combination of instruments in a classical context. The ensemble has just received nearly 100,000 DK kr. from ”Kulturkontakt Nord” for an trans Nordic project that ends with a 3-week tour through the Nordic countries in the late summer of 2017.

Since early 2016, the ensemble has worked to bring together musicians and composers across the Nordic countries. The ensemble has begun collaborating with six composers respectively from Denmark, Sweden, Åland / Finland, Faroe Islands, Iceland and Greenland. All are in the process of composing a piece for the ensemble. At the summer's Nordic tour, all the pieces will be played, and brings the audience on an auditory journey through nature and culture of the composers' respective home countries.
