Four Academy representatives are these days on a charm offensive in China. Besides Shanghai the more than 2000 km. long tour let the quartet pass four city’s and six universities / academies in eastern China. The aim is to promote a new music competition in China, carrying the Academy's name: Royal Academy of Music, Aarhus / Aalborg National Music Competition, China; and also to prepare the ground for Chinese students coming to Denmark.

The competition takes place over the summer at a variety of locations in the huge country and ends with a finale where Academy lectures are involved as judges. First prize is a year of studies at the Academy in Aarhus/Aalborg. Expected number of participants in the competition is about ... 30,000!

The China traveler quartet consists of baryton and head of classical studies Robert Bøgelund Vinther, cello professor Henrik Brendstrup, trombone professor Niels-Ole Bo Johansen and pianist and prof. Emeritus Erik Kaltoft. In addition to meeting with potential partners and talk about the Academy, the four China travelers will give mini-concerts and hold master classes.
