• New CD with rare Danish music

Baritone and lecturer at the Academy Lars Thodberg Bertelsen, has along with former lecturer Thomas Trondheim released a CD with songs and romances by the Danish composer Fini Henriques (1867-1940) - a somewhat overlooked figure in Danish music history.

In his lifetime Henriques was especially known as a violinist and conductor. He appeared as a soloist throughout the country and he was a great entertainer and an equilibristic violinist. His music is distinctly romantic, without any influence by all the new things happening with music around 1900.

The CD presents six song cycles with songs and romances, written in the years 1889 to 1912. The texts are from the same time or older and they largely reflect the romantic idiom. Volume 2 of "Fini Henriques, Danish Songs and Romances" is already recorded and is expected to be published after New Year. CD’s are published by CDKlassisk.
