Shortly before Christmas the Academy could announce head of studies Claus Olesen will take over as principal when Thomas Winther leave his position 1 February. The news has reached out  wide in the Danish press, from all major newspapers to a number of smaller newspapers such as Struer Dagblad (Olesen is in the board of the Orchestra School in Holstebro) and Lolland-Falster Folketidende (Olesen comes from Holeby on Lolland).

On 20 December Aarhus Stiftstidende and Randers Amtsavis brought an interview with Claus Olesen, saying he will work for the two departments in Aarhus and Aalborg to get even more involved in each other, the two environments can challenge each other professionally.

In Jyllands Posten the new principal was given a special mention: He was the subject of one of the 10 questions in the newspaper's weekly news quiz. The question was what instrument the new principal is known to play on; in addition to the correct answer (saxophone) the quiz also suggested trumpet and flute!
