Strings department at the Academy

String classes are taught by a number of lecturers who all have extensive experience both as orchestral musicians, as chamber musicians and as soloists. See the individual profile below.

Preparatory course
Since autumn 2014 the Academy provides an introduction course for talented for young string players who are considering study at a music academy. The course is open to young people from across the country; it is free of charge and extends over a number of weekends in the fall in Aarhus. Read more (in Danish).

International String camp 2015
RAMA International String Camp 25-29 August will be a new tradition and an inspirational meeting for string students and professionals from Denmark and abroad. Professionals, students as well as Junior Academy students (MGK) are welcome at the camp. The program will include masterclasses, chamber music, competition for violinists, chamber orchestra and faculty concerts. Read more.


Mo Yi, violin and baroque violin
First solo violinist in Randers Chamber Orchestra. Mo Yi has an extensive concert aciticty as a soloist and chamber musician. Professor of violin at the "Berlin University of the Arts".

Tue Lautrup, violin and viola
4. Concert master at Aarhus Symphony Orchestra, former soloist in the second violin group at the National Radio Symphony Orchestra. Tue Lautrup is a sought after chamber musician and soloist.

Olga Goija, viola
2. principal viola in Randers Kammerorkester since 2009. Goija grew up in Riga, Latvia, where she began studying violin at the age of eight. From 2000 she studied in Los Angeles, US, and she still plays regularly throughout California.

Henrik Brendstrup, cello
Professor at the Academy. As a soloist and chamber musician a recurring guest at international chamber music festivals. For many years affiliated with the Chamber Orchestra of Europe.

Frank Christensen, doublebass
Employed in Aarhus Symphony Orchestra since 1979, including 27 years as the first solo bassist. In addition, active as a chamber musician and in several ensembles for both new music and baroque music.
